Kevin is a senior mental health clinician with The Lion Mind. He is a registered Counsellor and Psychotherapist (L2, membership no. A0275) with the Association of Psychotherapists and Counsellors Singapore (APACS), and a Registered Social Worker (registration no. RSW-2246) with the Social Work Accreditation and Advisory Board (SWAAB). As a mental health clinician, Kevin has many years of experience working with individuals from varied backgrounds (e.g., ex-offenders, family violence, mental health concerns etc). Prior to joining The Lion Mind, Kevin worked as a counsellor for several different family service centres.
While Kevin has been exposed to different counselling modalities, he prefers working with clients from an emotion-focused and cognitive-behavioural perspective. He has also completed “Essentials of CBT: The Beck Approach” with The Beck Institute.
In addition to counselling and psychotherapy, Kevin is familiar with the various psychological assessments, diagnosis, and tests. These include (but not exhaustive) the Behavior Assessment System for Children, Third Edition (BASC-3), the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory-2 (MMPI-2), the Roberts Apperception Test for Children: 2 (Roberts-2), the Children Apperception Test (CAT), the Thematic Apperception Test (TAT), the Tree-House-Person (THP) projective test, and the NEO Personality Inventory, Third Edition (NEO-PI-3). He is also exposed to diagnostic tests such as Conners Third Edition (Conners 3), and various intelligence tests such as the Stanford-Binet Intelligence Scales, Fifth Edition (SB-5), the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale 4th Edition (WAIS-IV), the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children – Fifth Edition (WISC-V), the Wechsler Preschool & Primary Scale of Intelligence, Fourth Edition (WPPSI-IV), and the Raven’s Progressive Matrices Second Edition (Raven’s 2). Kevin is also able to perform psychological diagnosis using DSM-5.
Kevin has a Graduate Diploma in Social Work from the Singapore University of Social Sciences, and a Bachelor of Psychology (Class 2A Honours) from Griffith University (Gold Coast Campus). Furthermore, he has completed the coursework requirements for the Master of Arts (Applied Psychology) (Counselling Psychology) programme with Nanyang Technological University (NTU). He has also completed an ACA / APACS Professional Supervision Course.
