March has been a trying month for everyone. Precautions are made in the Cov-19 situation. The encouragement for social distancing and the closure of several social activities and events did not dampen our resilient spirit against the situation.
I am glad that the Singapore Psychological Society (SPS) has come forward to provide comfort and psychological resources. SPS has organised a discussion talk “COVID-19: Don’t Panic!” on 7th March 2020 (Saturday) which both me and my co-founder, Weiren, attended. The takeaway message for that talk was to provide empathy to people who are in need. On 21st March 2020 (Saturday), I had attended the SPS Annual General Meeting.
With much anticipation and delight, I am happy to share with you that Wei Jie, Weiren and I have stepped up onto the Executive Committee of the Association of Psychotherapists And Counsellors (Singapore) (APACS). I will be taking up the role of Honorary Treasurer, Wei Jie will be the Honorary Secretary, and Weiren will be spearheading his team of Marketing & Publicity sub-committee. With these positions, we hope to be able to contribute to the local mental health industry and serving the community.
We have brought in a new clinician to join our existing team! Kevin Daniel Pillay is an experienced counsellor and psychotherapist in managing relationship issues for couples and family. He is also our in-house psychotherapist for young children. As such, we will be bringing Play into our therapy sessions soon!
